Baseball Recap: Sneads Has No Trouble Against Malone

Sneads won the last time they faced Malone and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Sneads Pirates put the hurt on the Malone Tigers with a sharp 21-2 win. Considering the Pirates have won four games by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

J J Harrell was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Sneads is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Harrell was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Kaiden Chehardy looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Sneads got a massive performance out of Aaron Williams, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Sneads is 3-1 when Williams posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Alex Gaines was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Sneads always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Sneads back to even at 6-6. As for Malone, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sneads will head out to challenge Cottondale at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Malone, they will venture away from home to take on Poplar Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Malone has given up an average of 9.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
