Edgewood and Grand Saline are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Bulldogs will venture away from home to face off against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Edgewood's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
Fans were treated to a battle of the Bulldogs on Friday. Edgewood blew past Quitman 62-7. That 55 point margin sets a new team best for Edgewood this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Edgewood to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trevor Golightly, who threw for 369 yards and seven touchdowns on only 18 passes, and also rushed for 56 yards. Those seven passing touchdowns gave Golightly a new career-high. Lucas Pippin was another key back, gaining 229 total yards and four touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Edgewood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 203 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 166 rushing yards in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Grand Saline entered their tilt with Harmony on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They claimed a resounding 42-6 win over the Eagles. Given the Indians' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 460th, while the Eagles are ranked 949th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edgewood better keep an eye on Jett Taylor. He was instrumental in Grand Saline's win, throwing for 287 yards and three TDs on only 12 passes, while also rushing for 77 yards and one score on only nine carries. Taylor also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making eight total tackles and defending two passes. A healthy portion of Taylor's aerial production (124 yards to be exact) went to Kolton Prox, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Edgewood's record is now 4-2. As for Grand Saline, their record now sits at 4-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Edgewood has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 277.7 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Grand Saline, though, as they've been averaging only 141.8 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Edgewood was dealt a bruising 75-40 loss at the hands of Grand Saline in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Taylor, who rushed for 309 yards and five touchdowns on only 14 carries, and also threw for 28 yards and one TD. Now that the Bulldogs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
