Volleyball Recap: Centennial Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Friday. Centennial came out on top against Zumbrota-Mazeppa by a score of 2-0. Centennial was shut out 2-0 the last time they took on Zumbrota-Mazeppa, so Centennial was just returning the favor.

While Centennial might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Zumbrota-Mazeppa scored at least 19 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-21.

Elena Hoecke paced Centennial's offense, picking up eight kills. Hoecke got some help from Chase Manthey and her 23 assists.

Centennial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Centennial has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Apple Valley on the 11th. As for Zumbrota-Mazeppa, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Lewiston-Altura on the 10th.
