Softball Recap: Brookville Find Success

While Brookville's win against Valley View wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over the Spartans on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since May 8, 2024.

Rylan Eagle was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Libby Nutter was excellent, going 2-for-5 with three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Maya Haydon, who scored three runs.

Brookville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Brookville is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Valley View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brookville will head out to take on Bethel at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Valley View, they will venture away from home to square off against Edgewood at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
