J.T. Curtis of John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.) is close to becoming the all-time coaching wins leader in high school football, but he's already the national leader in another category — most state championships.
With 609 wins entering play this week, Curtis is 11 wins away from tying the late John McKissick of Summerville (S.C.) for the
most all-time wins. However, with 26 state championships (not including one that was later forfeited), Curtis leads McKissick by 16 state championships.

Both Curtis and McKissick are listed on MaxPreps list of high school football coaches with 10 or more state titles. The list includes close to 70 coaches with eight winning at least 20 state titles.
The list was compiled with the help of Steven Floyd, who also provides MaxPreps with its list of all-time coaching wins. The lists can be found in the MaxPreps National High School Football Record Book.
The list includes mythical state championships and titles won via playoffs. For New Jersey, group championships were included, however for California only state championships (no sectional championships) and mythical titles chosen by Cal-Hi Sports were included.
