In what's become a running theme this season, the Bryan Bears gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Omaha Northwest with a sharp 81-59 win. Given Bryan's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Omaha Northwest is ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryan got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was A'mare Bynum out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Bynum has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Brandon Jarmon was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with two steals.
Omaha Northwest lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dontae McDowell, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chiok John, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Bryan pushed their record up to 11-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Omaha Northwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-10.
Bryan won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Papillion-LaVista at 7:15 p.m. on January 27th. Hopefully Papillion-LaVista focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven last Friday. As for Omaha Northwest, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Grand Island on January 27th. Grand Island is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
