The Lakota West Firebirds lost against the Lakota East Thunderhawks back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Lakota West took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lakota East. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lakota West in their matchups with Lakota East: they've now lost four in a row.
Lakota East had a senior duo take command as Celina Blount scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks and Emma Fohl scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Fohl is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Asher, who scored 13 points.
Lakota West's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lakota East, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 3-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakota West will square off against Mason at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mason focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday. As for Lakota East, they will head out on the road to face off against Hamilton at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Lakota East is ranked 154th).
