Columbus City - South recap September 17, 2013
Independence moved up to 366 from 438 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Columbus City - South. The 76ers were able to make move up by falling to Westerville Central 54-32.
Walnut Ridge was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from third to first in the league. The Scots defeated Beechcroft 24-0 earlier in the week.
Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Independence's Iman Lowery goes up against Marion-Franklin's Jhulyis Monroe.
Next week's game between Maurice Douglas' team and the Red Devils will feature an aerial matchup as Anthony Bange tests his arm against Monroe's defensive ability. Independence's Bange has recorded 324 yards and 4 touchdowns this year, while Marion-Franklin's Monroe has 2 interceptions to his name.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when South takes on Walnut Ridge. As it stands, the Bulldogs are in fourth, while Byron Mattox's team is in first.
The league will see a high scoring game when the Red Devils and Independence face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Marion-Franklin comes in having scored 67 this season, while the 76ers have scored 94. The Red Devils scored 14 points last week as they lost to Bishop Hartley.
Africentric Early College lost to Paint Valley 46-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
