The Sapulpa Chieftains scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 86-34 victory over Holland Hall on the road. Given Sapulpa's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Holland Hall is ranked 162nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Sapulpa to victory were Tyla Heard and Riki Mcquarters. Heard dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds, while Mcquarters scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Heard is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Wrigley Adkisson, who scored 13 points.
Sapulpa has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Holland Hall, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sapulpa will square off against Durant at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Holland Hall, Holland Hall and Coweta will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Coweta has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
