Baseball Recap: Crab Orchard Starts Season with Victory Against Shawnee

Crab Orchard gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They blew past the Shawnee Redskins 15-5. The win was some much needed relief for the Trojans as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Cameron Dawes was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brayden Mausey, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Shawnee's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Crab Orchard will take on Elverado at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shawnee, they are taking a road trip to square off against Pope County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
