Things were looking good for Western Hills after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. Meanwhile, Rio Vista gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. Everything went their way against Keene as Rio Vista made off with a 21-4 victory. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Chargers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Like Western Hills, Rio Vista also got a great game from a two-way player: Slate Campbell. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave Campbell a new career-high in strikeouts. He was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
