Carter and South-Doyle are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2017, but likely not for long. The Carter Green Hornets are taking a road trip to square off against the South-Doyle Cherokees at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Carter is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
Carter had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Clinton on Thursday. Carter was the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Clinton. The result was nothing new for the Green Hornets, who have now won five matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Kingston Griph made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Cooper Cardwell was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Luke Burnette was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Carter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .542. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South-Doyle fell victim to Halls and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 12-0 to the Tigers.
South-Doyle saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Holden Lowe, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double.
Carter's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for South-Doyle, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5-1.
South-Doyle's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carter hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. It's a different story for South-Doyle, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Carter's hitters?
Carter skirted past South-Doyle 5-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Does Carter have another victory up their sleeve, or will South-Doyle turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
