There's no place like home for the North Salinas Vikings, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 56-54 victory over North Monterey County on Wednesday. For North Salinas, this counts as revenge for the 66-52 defeat North Monterey County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2019.
Shane Taylor was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Another player making a difference was Andre Lizaola, who scored 6 points along with 5 rebounds.
North Salinas' win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for North Monterey County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Salinas will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Alisal at 7:00 p.m. on December 18th. As for North Monterey County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho San Juan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Rancho San Juan has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
