South County has gone 8-2 against West Potomac recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Stallions will be playing at home against the Wolverines at 6:30 p.m. South County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
South County is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 23 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association on Wednesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots.
Ava Abromavage made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. Kelsey Wyllie was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.
Meanwhile, West Potomac was not able to break out of their rough patch last Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 16-7 to West Springfield.
Shea Studdiford was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley McGuckin, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
West Potomac's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for South County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-6 record this season.
West Potomac's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South County has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for West Potomac, though, as they've been averaging 11.2 hits. Given South County's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolverines will need to find a way to close that gap.
South County took their victory against West Potomac when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 17-7 score. Will the Stallions repeat their success, or do the Wolverines have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
