Baseball Recap: Corona Del Sol Takes Down O'connor in a Playoff Battle

Corona del Sol had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against the O'Connor Eagles on Tuesday as they made off with a 13-5 victory. Considering the Aztecs have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Corona del Sol got a great performance from Brett Crossland as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Crossland has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Conor Rae was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Long, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Corona del Sol always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as O'Connor only posted an OBP of .378.

Corona del Sol pushed their record up to 24-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for O'Connor, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-12.

As of now, neither Corona del Sol nor the Eagles have any future games scheduled.
