The Victoria Knights will head out on the road to challenge the St. John Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Victoria is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Victoria won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 54-32 walloping at the hands of Macksville. While losing is never fun, Victoria can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 230th, while Macksville is ranked 114th).
Kennidy Amrein put forth a good effort for the losing side as she almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Brinly Lichter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, St. John came tearing into Tuesday's contest with 13 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 59-25 victory over Otis-Bison at home. St. John has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Victoria has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for St. John, their win bumped their record up to 16-1.
Victoria might still be hurting after the 58-32 loss they got from St. John when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Victoria was down 36-12.
