The David City Scouts's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight defeat. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 52-51 to Cross County. David City has struggled against Cross County recently, as their contest on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Scouts players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brock Dubbs, who scored 15 points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Clayton Zavodny, who scored 18 points.
Ashton Seim continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cross County, scoring 20 points along with four steals and three blocks. It was the first time this season that Seim posted two or more blocks. Alex Noyd was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
David City's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Cross County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
David City will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison on Thursday. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Cross County, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against East Butler at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Cross County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.
