Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school girls basketball. The tradition continues to close out the 2024-25 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Brookeslee Colvin of
Coeur d'Alene is the 2024-25 Idaho MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 5-foot-10 sophomore point guard led the Vikings to a 17-8 record and Class 6A semifinal appearance.
For the season, Colvin averaged 22.6 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.1 steals per game.
In the second round of the state playoffs, Colvin scored 17 of her
game-high 28 as Coeur d'Alene beat Borah
(Boise) 53-47. She followed that with a 36-point outburst in a near-upset
of top seed and eventual state champion Owyhee (Meridian) in the semifinals.
Colvin continues a family tradition after sister Teagan, now a freshman at UNLV, was named Idaho MaxPreps Player of the Year the previous two seasons.
Each state's MaxPreps Player of the Year will be considered for inclusion in the MaxPreps All-America Team, which is scheduled to be released in April. Past selections include 2024 WNBA Most Valuable Player A'ja Wilson (2014) as well as 2024 All-WNBA first team picks Caitlin Clark (2020), Napheesa Collier (2015), Breanna Stewart (2012) and Alyssa Thomas (2010).
