The Cambridge Springs Devils will challenge the Conneaut Area Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Cambridge Springs will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Lakeview, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Devils put the hurt on the Sailors with a sharp 10-1 victory on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Devils' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Quinn Simmerman made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Cambridge Springs' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 2-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Simmerman was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brett Kania, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Mason Furry was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Cambridge Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeview only posted a batting average of .176.
Meanwhile, Conneaut Area earned a 5-2 win over North East on Monday.
Like Cambridge Springs, Conneaut Area also got a great game from a two-way player: Alex Wilpula. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Wilpula has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Wilpula wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chase Stewart, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Conneaut Area's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Cambridge Springs, their win bumped their record up to 3-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Cambridge Springs has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Conneaut Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
