Greensboro Day School is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Caldwell Academy Eagles at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Greensboro Day School is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past GRACE Christian 11-4 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bengals.
Trevor Waters made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Oliver Fisher, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Cooper Braxton was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-5.
Greensboro Day School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as GRACE Christian only managed five hits.
Meanwhile, Caldwell Academy waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Spartans as they made off with an 11-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won three matches by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jack Pearman spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.
On the hitting side, Neal Swindell was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Spencer McBurney, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Caldwell Academy pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Greensboro Day School, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Greensboro Day School has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caldwell Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Greensboro Day School's way against Caldwell Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Greensboro Day School made off with a 19-0 victory. Will Greensboro Day School repeat their success, or does Caldwell Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
