Basketball Recap: Bertrand Skates Past Southern Valley with Ease

Bertrand entered their tilt with Southern Valley on Thursday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They took their game with ease, bagging a 60-33 win over the Southern Valley Eagles. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 21 points or more this season.

Bertrand was led to victory by Thunder Nelson and Marcus Hernandez. Nelson went 10 of 21 en route to 23 points along with seven boards and six steals, while Hernandez went 7 of 11 on his way to 15 points in addition to seven boards and five blocks. With that strong performance, Nelson is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Hatfield, who posted seven points along with six boards and four steals.

Bertrand smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Bertrand's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for Southern Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bertrand will square off against South Loup at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Loup will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Bertrand surely won't give up without a fight. As for Southern Valley, they will challenge Arapahoe at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
