MaxPreps is pleased to announce that the
Washington Township Minutemen have officially been named to the 11th Annual MaxPreps Tour of Champions presented by the Army National Guard, which is in its fifth year honoring boys soccer.
This is one of the most prestigious team awards in all of high school sports and it is an exclusive honor reserved for the top 100 teams nationwide. In order to be eligible, a team must win a state championship and be highly ranked in the MaxPreps National Rankings. For soccer, only 20 of the country's best are invited and with nearly 34,000 competing varsity teams. This puts the Minutemen ahead of 99.9 percent of their opponents!
The Washington Township boys soccer team defeated West Orange (1-0) on Nov. 22 in a hard-fought battle to clinch the 2015 NJSIAA Group 4 State championship. This leaves the Minutemen with back-to-back titles and their second title in school history. Head coach Shane Snyder has led his team to one of the best three-year runs with a combined record of 76-3-1 and two state championships.
Washington Township finished their season 25-1-1 with 19 shutouts, outscoring their opponents 65-12. The Minutemen were ranked No. 10 in the nation, No. 1 in New Jersey and No. 1 in the Olympic-American Conference.
These incredible season achievements have earned the Washington Township Minutemen an invitation to the 5th Annual Soccer Tour of Champions.
Please join us as we celebrate with the team, head coach Shane Snyder, students and fans on Friday, Dec. 18 at 6:00 p.m. during the pre-game community celebration in the auditorium.
