It was a good run, but the WISH Academy Owls unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 73-50 loss at the hands of Animo Venice. WISH Academy has struggled against Animo Venice recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
WISH Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keith Hartman, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Tureaud, who scored 12 points.
Animo Venice was led to victory by Judah Elliot Smith and Rashad Johnson. Smith dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Johnson scored 25 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Smith has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played. Matthew Jose was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists and two steals.
WISH Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Animo Venice, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season.
WISH Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on TEACH Tech Charter at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th. TEACH Tech Charter is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Animo Venice, they will head out on the road to face off against Animo Pat Brown at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
