Basketball Recap: Pamlico County Piles Up the Points Against East Carteret

Pamlico County hadn't done well against East Carteret recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Pamlico County Hurricanes claimed a resounding 71-32 win over the East Carteret Mariners. With the Hurricanes ahead 38-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Nya Clark was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten steals. Those ten steals gave her a new career-high. Sydney Whitley-Reese was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Pamlico County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Pamlico County, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for East Carteret, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-10.

Pamlico County will head out to face off against Northside - Pinetown at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for East Carteret, they will be playing at home against Southside at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
