The First Academy Royals entered their tilt with the Trinity Prep Saints with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. The First Academy enjoyed a cozy 74-58 win over Trinity Prep on Friday. Given The First Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while Trinity Prep is ranked 409th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The First Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lorenzo De jesus, who scored 22 points along with seven assists and two steals. De jesus is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Julian Anderson was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with seven rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Trinity Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Hull. Despite the final result, he scored 32 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hull has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrien Quiros, who scored ten points.
The First Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Trinity Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
The First Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Forest at 3:00 p.m. on January 27th. Forest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully The First Academy likes a good challenge. Trinity Prep will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Lyman at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Lyman is coming into the game with four straight losses at home, so Trinity Prep is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
