The Thurgood Marshall Cougars were the 51-44 winner over the Dunbar Wolverines when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Thurgood Marshall took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wolverines on Friday. While losing is never fun, Thurgood Marshall can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while the Wolverines are ranked 231st).
Dunbar got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jimmy Hill iv out in front who scored 19 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Lester Brown, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Thurgood Marshall's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Dunbar, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thurgood Marshall will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dunbar, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Spring Mills will be coming into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
