It was a good run, but Lamar unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Simpson Academy Cougars by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Raiders have suffered against the Cougars since April 14, 2022.

Brody Mayatt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ty Herrington, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Lamar's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6-2. As for Simpson Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 16-9.

While Lamar had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
