Even though the Lakeside Lancers have not done well against the Heritage Patriots recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Lakeside came out on top against Heritage by a score of 78-69. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lakeside's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maurice Turner, who scored 25 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Turner is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Knudson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Aaron Contreras, who scored 32 points. Adrian Viray was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Lakeside's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for Heritage, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-14.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Vista del Lago the next time they take the court. Heritage will head out to face Vista del Lago at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Lakeside will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
