This season hasn't been kind to the Tri-City Tornadoes, who are still winless after their 16th matchup. They took a hard 43-29 fall against Athens on Monday. Tri-City lost against Athens in their previous head to head back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 54-38 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Tri-City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gage Shafer. Despite the final result, he scored five points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.
Tri-City bumped their record down to 0-16 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Athens, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.
Tri-City will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Pleasant Plains at 8:00 p.m. Athens won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Williamsville at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hopefully Williamsville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Wednesday.
