The Greenfield-Central Cougars scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by New Castle at home to the tune of 65-33. The victory was nothing new for Greenfield-Central as they're now sitting on four straight.
Greenfield-Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooklyn Mcconnell out in front who scored 17 points along with four steals. Mcconnell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Madison Sonsini was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morley Blessinger, who scored four points along with ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alana Orr, who scored six points.
Greenfield-Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. As for New Castle, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenfield-Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Franklin Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. The timing isn't great for Franklin Central: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Greenfield-Central has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for New Castle, they will square off against Tri at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Tri is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.4 points per game.
