Pekin will be defending their home turf for the first time on Friday when they go up against Mid-Prairie at 7:00 PM. Pekin have the odds in their favor, so they'll need to guard against complacency.
Pekin had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They captured a comfortable 31-12 win over Sigourney-Keota.
Meanwhile, Mid-Prairie had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They lost to Grinnell by a decisive 12-27 margin.
Pekin's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Mid-Prairie's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Pekin can add another positive mark to their record or if Mid-Prairie can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Pekin's step.
