Among those leading the charge was Madison Stolinas, who had nine digs and six aces. She is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 22 or more in each of the last 29 games she's played dating back to last season.
Stolinas wasn't the only good servers: Marco Island Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've posted in their last 15 matchups.
Meanwhile, The Village School of Naples came up short against Everglades City two weeks ago, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Gators since August 31, 2021.
While The Village School of Naples ultimately came up short, they really made Everglades City work, particularly in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-12, 27-25.
Marco Island Academy's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for The Village School of Naples, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Marco Island Academy took their win against The Village School of Naples in their previous meeting back in October of 2023 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rays since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
