If The Trenton Tigers were riding high off their 40-0 takedown of the Bronson Eagles last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Trenton fell 35-28 to Lafayette on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Trenton in their matchups with Lafayette: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Trenton saw an underclassman step up: J'Dyen Manneh picked up 78 receiving yards and a touchdown. Manneh's longest reception was for an incredible 78 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lafayette to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tywan K williamson, who threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarien (jay) Ervin, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.
Trenton now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Lafayette, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Trenton will face off against Hamilton County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hamilton County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Lafayette, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jefferson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jefferson County comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
