Academy for Academic Excellence got a massive performance out of Dayleen De Los Cuetos, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave De Los Cuetos a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayla Berg, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-5.
Even though they lost, Academy for Academic Excellence was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .421. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hesperia only posted a batting average of .233.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Big Bear's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Fontana by a score of 11-9. The contest marked the Bears' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Lyric Moughan and Jorden Acosta stepped up to the plate in a big way. Moughan scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Acosta scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Gilligan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Academy for Academic Excellence now has a losing record of 5-6-1. As for Big Bear, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Academy for Academic Excellence has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .473. However, it's not like Big Bear struggles in that department as they've averaged .436. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
