Softball Recap: Guilford Gets the Win

Guilford won the last time they faced Hand and things went their way on Saturday too. The Grizzlies walked away with a 7-2 win over the Tigers.

Mallory Sedorra spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Peton LaMay, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Munson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Guilford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hand only posted a batting average of .250.

Guilford's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Hand, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Guilford will face off against Amity Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hand, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Wilbur Cross at 4:00 p.m.
