The Standley Lake Gators will take on the Kennedy Commanders at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Standley Lake has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Standley Lake is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Pomona 14-12. With that win, the Gators brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.
Chris Blanco made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Standley Lake is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-5 otherwise. Blanco was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024.

Kennedy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Standley Lake has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.8 hits per game. It's a different story for Kennedy, though, as they've been averaging 11.8 hits. Given Standley Lake's sizable advantage in that area, the Commanders will need to find a way to close that gap.
