Softball Recap: Rancho Wins Going Away Against Pinecrest Academy Cadence

Rancho got themselves on the board against Pinecrest Academy Cadence on Thursday, but Pinecrest Academy Cadence never followed suit. They blew past the Cougars 15-0. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.

Brooklynn Braun made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Layla Stout was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Annalise Stout was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Rancho always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Rancho has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

As for Pinecrest Academy Cadence, they will take on Del Sol at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight.
