Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (67), the Elks/Elkettes still had to take the loss.
Pojoaque Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Luke Pacheco, who went 5-for-7 en route to 15 points and six rebounds. Those 15 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Joziah Salazar, who posted 12 points and five boards.
Even though they lost, Pojoaque Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their fifth loss (out of 23 games) when they've passed the ball that well.
Pojoaque Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Taos, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.
Pojoaque Valley will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Taos at 6:00 p.m. on March 8th.
