The West Bladen Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Fairmont at home and fell 51-16. West Bladen has struggled against Fairmont recently, as their contest on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fairmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Niah Smith, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Smith is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Miah Smith was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten steals and six rebounds.
West Bladen's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-9. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Fairmont, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
West Bladen will head out on the road to take on Red Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fairmont, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Clinton at 6:00 p.m. Clinton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Fairmont is ranked 64th).
