The Horizon Hawks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of University. While losing is never fun, Horizon can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while University is ranked 55th).
Despite the loss, Horizon still got an impressive performance from Adonys Christo, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Rojas, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Ethan Adams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for University, scoring 18 points along with six assists and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Adams has scored all season. Noah Nazario was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Horizon has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season. As for University, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will face off against Lake Mary Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. University's road trip will continue as they head out to face East River at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
