Softball Recap: Wylie East Wins Going Away Against Sachse

Wylie East lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Sachse, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The Wylie East Raiders were the clear victor by a 12-6 margin over the Sachse Mustangs on Friday. For the Raiders, this counts as revenge for the 7-5 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Isabella Flores and Kimma Kincaid were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Flores tossed six innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Meanwhile, Kincaid tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Flores posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. At bat, Flores scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Kincaid scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Flores, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jayleigh Dressler, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Wylie East lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win made it two in a row for Wylie East and bumps their season record up to 9-7-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12.5 runs. As for Sachse, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wylie East will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Garland at 12:30 p.m. on March 18th. As for Sachse, they will take on North Garland at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sachse has given up an average of 8.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
