Softball Recap: Superior Picks Up Ninth Consecutive Win

Superior waltzed into their contest on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Fort Thomas Apaches. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-1 on Friday.

Lessenia Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over six innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Stephanie Lopez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyna Cruz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Superior kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Thomas only managed five.

Superior's win bumped their record up to 15-1-1. As for Fort Thomas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Superior will face off against Ray at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.29 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fort Thomas, they will square off against St. David at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Apaches' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
