Basketball Recap: Berkeley Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Berkeley won the last time they faced Stratford, and Amani Mccray did her part to make sure it happened again. The Berkeley Stags really took it to the Stratford Knights for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-44 win thanks in part to Mccray, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Alaina Carter was another key player, going 5 for 12 en route to 13 points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Despite the loss, Stratford had strong showings from Ciara Mustapher, who posted 19 points and four steals, and Averi Johnson, who earned 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Harleigh Mosley, who had five points.

The victory made it two in a row for Berkeley and bumps their season record up to 13-4. As for Stratford, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berkeley will take on Cane Bay at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. The timing isn't great for Cane Bay: they have been struggling with seven straight losses at home, while Berkeley has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road. Stratford has already played their next contest (against West Ashley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
