The Whitehall-Yearling Rams will face off against the Bexley Lions at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Whitehall-Yearling is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Worthington Christian, falling 26-15. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (13), the Rams still had to take the loss.
Aubrie Deschaine and Kylie Whistle did some serious damage despite the final result: Deschaine went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Whistle went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Autumn Jones, who earned one run and three stolen bases.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bexley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Madison Christian with a sharp 15-3 win on Saturday.
Zoe Lemon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Davaney Prophet was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyra Duffee, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Bexley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Whitehall-Yearling's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Bexley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
