1A District 7 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Union County extended the longest winning streak in 1A District 7 this week by beating Dixie County, 28-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the Fightin' Tigers.
Baldwin took down Harvest Community 57-16 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Union County's dynamic duo of Chandler Mann and Prince Alexander proved tough for the Bears to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mann threw for 81 yards and two touchdowns and Alexander had 60 yards receiving. Dylan Clark helped Union County's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
Ra'kheem Hoyt was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 30 carries, he ran for 210 yards as Newberry defeated Dixie County. Tamarcus Faulkner also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.
Brent Wilkerson's team's Shaquille Mitchem and DJ Little have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Mitchem has thrown for 485 yards this season, while Little has seven catches for 123 yards. Alphonso Timmons from Chiefland leads the league in rushing with 689 yards.
The Indians led 1A District 7 in scoring this week after putting up 57 points on the Warriors.
