For the first time this season, Adena will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will face off against the Unioto Shermans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Adena is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10 runs per game this season.
Adena will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Eastern on Saturday. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Warriors have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Josie Mallow was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kelsea Brown, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Adena always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastern only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Unioto earned a 14-9 victory over Marietta on Saturday.
Mackenzie Welch was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Kailani Hutton was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Adena's record is now 3-1. As for Unioto, their record now sits at an identical 3-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Adena hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Unioto struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Adena's way against Unioto in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, as Adena made off with a 7-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
