The Franklin Central Purple Devils fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Windham-Ashland-Jewett Warriors on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 57-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Franklin Central's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it seven in a row.
Despite the defeat, Franklin Central saw an underclassman step up: Shannon Kingsbury scored 20 points along with seven steals. Kingsbury is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Lucas Van Dyke was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Franklin Central dropped their record down to 4-10 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Windham-Ashland-Jewett, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Franklin Central will be playing at home against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Windham-Ashland-Jewett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
