The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Westchester Country Day in their matchups with Gaston Day: they've now lost six in a row.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Salem Baptist Christian, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were dealt a 89-48 defeat at the hands of Calvary Christian on Friday. While losing is never fun, Salem Baptist Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 612th, while Calvary Christian is ranked 229th).
Westchester Country Day has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Salem Baptist Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Westchester Country Day came out on top in a nail-biter against Salem Baptist Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, sneaking past 63-60. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Salem Baptist Christian's Troy "TJ" Corbin, who scored 25 points.
