North Marion is 1-9 against Belleview since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Colts will challenge the Rattlers at 7:00 p.m. North Marion has given up an average of 13.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North Marion is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against P.K. Yonge, falling 24-5.
Olivia Pierce made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Trinity Hampton was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Belleview got themselves on the board against Leesburg on Monday, but Leesburg never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 6-0 margin over the Yellow Jackets. The result was nothing new for the Rattlers, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Leesburg's batters probably weren't too happy with Ya'Mari Reynolds, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Reynolds has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Kiera Evans was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Quartararo, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
The victory made it two in a row for Belleview and bumps their season record up to 8-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for North Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
North Marion's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Colts have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Belleview, though, as they've been averaging only 1.1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will North Marion continue to outrun the ball?
North Marion couldn't quite get it done against Belleview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 as they fell 8-4. Can the Colts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
