Last Tuesday, Thomas County Central strolled past Bainbridge with points to spare, taking the game 47-28. Given Thomas County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Bainbridge is ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tia Floyd, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Travesha Giddens was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Tift County entered their tilt with Westover with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Tift County took their matchup at home on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 65-22 victory over Westover. Tift County has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 23 points or more this season.
Thomas County Central's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Tift County, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their 19th straight at home.
Things could have been worse for Thomas County Central, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 71-57 loss to Tift County in their previous meeting on January 6th. Can Thomas County Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
